Privacy Policy

Last updated August 7, 2026

One Minute Explainer is operated by Akshay Rakheja. This policy explains how the service handles account information, source material, generated media, and support requests.

What we collect

We collect the information needed to create and manage your explainers: account identifiers from our authentication provider, prompts, pasted URLs, uploaded PDF or DOCX files, extracted source text, generated scripts, narration audio, preview files, visibility settings, and basic usage records.

Payments and accounts

Sign-in is handled by Clerk and billing is handled by Stripe. We store subscription and usage status needed to enforce plan limits, but we do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.

How source material is used

Source material is used to extract context, generate scripts, create narration, build previews, render videos, troubleshoot failed jobs, and show your previous videos in your dashboard. If you make a video public or enable a share link, viewers may see the generated video and limited source summary metadata.

ChatGPT and Claude connections

When you connect One Minute Explainer to ChatGPT, operated by OpenAI, or Claude, operated by Anthropic, that host processes your conversation under its own terms and privacy policy. One Minute Explainer receives only the account authentication and tool-call data that the host sends to this service, such as approved source text, video instructions, tool choices, and video IDs. We return the job status, result metadata, and any sharing change you request. One Minute Explainer does not ask the host for unrelated conversations, contacts, or account files.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal information. We do not intentionally publish uploaded files or private prompts. Public pages and share links are controlled by the visibility and sharing settings available in the app.

Retention and deletion

We keep videos, source context, generated assets, and job records while your account is active so we can provide the service and your dashboard history. You can keep a video private, enable or revoke a public share link, and request deletion of a specific video or account-associated data. We complete a verified deletion request within 30 days. Backup and security-log copies may remain for up to 90 days before they are overwritten or deleted. Billing and transaction records may be retained for up to seven years when required for tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, or other legal obligations. To make a deletion request or report a privacy issue, email support@oneminuteexplainer.ai from the address associated with your account so we can verify and locate the relevant records.

Service providers and recipients

We use Clerk for authentication and Stripe for payments. We also use cloud hosting, storage, and database providers; AI model, speech, and transcription providers; content extraction and media-retrieval services; and background-job infrastructure. These providers receive only the categories of account, source, generated-media, billing-status, or diagnostic data needed for their part of the service to work.
